In this event, Mr. Sanmao came to Fuzhou to tell you the stories behind the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys.
Three Lanes and Seven Alleys:
The Three Lanes and Seven Alleys is located in Gulou District, Fuzhou, Fujian. It is the largest existing historical and cultural block in the city center in China. With the north-south Nanhou Street as the axis, the west side is the "Three Lanes" of Yijin Lane, Wenru Lane, and Guanglu Lane, and the east side is the "Seven Lanes" of Yangqiao Lane, Langguan Lane, Ta Lane, Huang Lane, Anmin Lane, Gong Lane, and Jibi Lane. This is the best-preserved Lifang block and is known as the living fossil of the ancient Lifang system in China. There are many former residences of celebrities in the block, including Lin Zexu, Yan Fu, Shen Baozhen, Sa Zhenbing, Zheng Xiaoxu and others. Chen Yan, an aide to Zhang Zhidong, wrote in a poem, "Who knows that the lonely pine guest in Wuliu lives in the Three Lanes and Seven Alleys?"
The interpretation of Sanfang Qixiang can be multi-dimensional. From the perspective of the Lifang system, its historical peak should have been in Chang'an and Luoyang, but these two cities have experienced wars, and the Lifang in history has long disappeared. On the contrary, in Fuzhou in the south, such buildings have been preserved after several near-death experiences and are open as tourist attractions. If you travel back to ancient times, living in such a Lifang is actually very inconvenient. Such a system was not established for the "convenience of ordinary people's lives", and its demise in the north is also a natural process.
Of course, the most noteworthy thing about Sanfang Qixiang is the former residences of celebrities, especially Yan Fu. The "Evolution and Ethics" translated by this person has a huge impact on later generations of China. Its core idea is "survival of the fittest". This idea is now called "social Darwinism", and Yan Fu himself did not realize this core. Such social Darwinism is superficially based on Darwin's theory of evolution, but in essence it is the law of the jungle. It had a huge impact on the world in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. Why it was a prominent school of thought at the time and why it was later found to have problems is actually worth talking about. Of course, in addition to Yan Fu, Bing Xin, and Lin Juemin's former residences are also here, which are very worth talking about seriously.
In addition to these, Sanfang Qixiang also has a "Maritime Silk Road" museum. This term is often seen in newspapers, but its origin, rise and fall are rarely known. What is the difference between it and the Age of Exploration, who traveled on the Maritime Silk Road, what stories and evidence are there, and what the museum has or does not have? Let San Miao tell you.
