For this event, Mr. Sanmao came to Hangzhou, Zhejiang, to tell you the stories behind Zhejiang Museum.

Zhejiang Provincial Museum:

In recent years, there has been a " museum fever " in tourism. Checking in at museums in various places is a very popular tourist project. In addition to checking in, such a museum fever still cannot avoid a question, that is, " What are we looking at when we go to the museum ?" If it is a historical museum in China, then the concrete manifestation of this question is the question of " Why China " , which has been a topic of endless debate among archaeologists and historians until now. According to traditional narratives, the so-called " China " was first used in the Western Zhou Dynasty as " Zhezi China " . At that time, China referred to the area around Luoyang, Henan. Later, such culture had a strong radiation and assimilation to the surrounding areas, which created the ancient Chinese civilization.

But if we look beyond Henan, we will find that about four or five thousand years ago, the area of Zhejiang today also had a very developed culture, or even the embryonic form of civilization, such as Liangzhu and Hemudu. Such primitive cultures are very different from the Longshan culture and Erlitou culture in the Central Plains, and the relationship is also very subtle. Since ancient times, people have generally believed that the Jiangnan area was barbaric in the early days, but these developed cultures are a strong counter-evidence to " barbarians " . Since then, the history of Jiangnan is like another aspect of Chinese history. Of course, we can say that the Terracotta Warriors, Tang Sancai and the Forbidden City are the mainstream of Chinese history. They represent the continuous strengthening of the unified imperial power and even the history of reaching the pinnacle. But in the Zhejiang Museum, we can see another aspect of uninterrupted history. This aspect reflects, on the one hand, the diversity of the ancient Chinese civilization, and on the other hand, the people in the Jiangnan area survived by doing business in the cracks of the imperial power, which eventually made it the richest region in ancient China. This aspect of history is rarely mentioned in textbooks for various reasons, but many of its cultural relics are exhibited in the Zhejiang Museum, waiting for people with intentions to understand.

The Zhijiang Pavilion located in the Zhijiang Cultural Center will be open to the public on August 29 , 2023. After completion, the new Zhijiang Pavilion of Zhejiang Provincial Museum covers an area of about 54,400 square meters and a construction area of 100,000 square meters. It is an important institution for collecting and protecting Zhejiang historical relics and modern and contemporary art treasures, a window to showcase Zhejiang's long history, splendid culture and revolutionary process, a base for patriotic education, revolutionary tradition education and local education for the people, a platform for domestic and foreign cultural exchanges with historical relics and modern and contemporary art treasures as the main medium, and a place for intellectual leisure for the general audience; and launched "Ten Thousand Years of Zhejiang - Zhejiang Historical and Cultural Exhibition", "Song · Rhyme", "East is the Sea - Zhejiang Marine Culture Exhibition", "Secret Colors of Jiangnan - Zhejiang Ancient Celadon Exhibition", "Protecting the Border and the People and Talking about Qian Liu - Zhejiang Celebrity Thematic Series Exhibition", "Yiren Red Makeup - Traditional Wedding Customs and Dowry in Ningshao Plain", "Between Mountains and Rivers - Humanistic Digital Exhibition of "Fuchun Mountain Dwelling", "Liren Xing - Immersive Digital Exhibition of Images of Ancient Chinese Women", "Sounds of the Ancient Times - Guqin and the Chinese People's Phonological World", Exploration Experience Hall and other exhibition halls.
