1. Confucian Temple
It was built in the first year of the Zhengtong period of the Ming Dynasty ( 1436 ) and is located at No. 1 Dongmenli, Dongmalu, Nankai District, in the central area of Tianjin City, and Wenmiao Hutong, Changyi District, Jilin City. It is a temple where local officials of Tianjin in the Ming and Qing Dynasties worshipped Confucius, a great thinker, educator, politician and founder of Confucianism in ancient China. It is also the location of Tianjin Academy. It covers an area of 15,000 square meters and consists of two parallel temples of the prefecture and county and Minglun Hall. It is the largest and best-preserved Ming and Qing architectural complex in urban Tianjin.
2. Jingyuan
Originally named Qianyuan, it was the residence of Lu Zongyu, the minister of the Beiyang government to Japan. It is located at No. 70 Anshan Road, Heping District, Tianjin. It was built in 1921 , covers an area of about 3,016 square meters, and has a construction area of about 1,900 square meters. From July 1929 to November 1931 , the last emperor Puyi lived here with his empress Wanrong and concubine Wenxiu. It was renamed " Jingyuan " , which means " to be quiet to nourish my noble spirit " . There is a brick-and-wood structure building in the garden, which integrates Spanish and Japanese styles. It is lush and quiet, and is a typical representative of the courtyard-style private residence during the Tianjin Concession period.
After Puyi moved out, Jingyuan changed hands several times and went through many changes. It was used as an office and a residence successively. 600 square meters of illegal buildings were built in the courtyard and the building. In 2007 , the restored Jingyuan was opened to the public as a national AAA- level tourist attraction.
3. Xikai Church
The full name of the Catholic Xikai Cathedral, also known as Xikai Church and Old Xikai Church, is located at Dushan Road, Binjiang Road, Heping District, Tianjin. It faces northeast from southwest and was built in the fifth year of the Republic of China by French missionary Paul Du. It has a construction area of 1,891.95 square meters and can accommodate 1,500 people at the same time. It is the cathedral of the Catholic Diocese of Tianjin.
Xikai Church is the largest Romanesque building in Tianjin. The building plan is in the shape of a Latin " cross " . Three giant domes, each 45 meters high, are arranged in a "品" shape. The three domes are slightly elongated upwards and covered with green copper plates. The giant domes are supported by wooden structures, and there is a bronze cross on each dome.
In November 2018 , Xikai Church was selected into the third batch of China's 20th century architectural heritage.
Four: Qing Palace
Located at No. 55 , Chongqing Road, Heping District, Tianjin (formerly Cambridge Road in the British Concession), it is located in the heart of the " Five Avenues " and is a historical building with special protection level in Tianjin and a cultural relic protection unit in Tianjin.
The Prince Qing's Mansion was built in 1922. It was originally a private residence designed and supervised by Xiao Dezhang, the chief eunuch of the late Qing Dynasty. It was listed as the top Chinese building in the former British Concession. Later, it was purchased by Zai Zhen, the fourth generation of the Qing Dynasty, and his family lived here, hence the name. The Prince Qing's Mansion covers an area of 4,327 square meters and a construction area of 5,922 square meters. It is a brick-wood structure with two floors (with a basement) and an inner courtyard. The overall building adapts to the Westernized life at that time and combines the imagery of traditional Chinese culture. It is a typical building of Westernization among the five major Western-style buildings.
